Classic Lasagna


1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large pot, cook 1 pound of ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Add 1 chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves, and cook until the onion is translucent.
4. Stir in 1 jar of marinara sauce and 1 can of crushed tomatoes. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
5. In a mixing bowl, combine 15 ounces of ricotta cheese, 1 egg, and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
6. In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce.
7. Place a layer of uncooked lasagna noodles over the sauce.
8. Spread a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.
9. Add a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
10. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of meat sauce and a generous topping of mozzarella cheese.
11. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
12. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
13. Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
