Simple Chocolate Chip Cookies


1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a bowl, mix together 1 cup of softened butter, 1 cup of white sugar, and 1 cup of packed brown sugar until smooth.
3. Beat in 2 eggs, one at a time, then stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
4. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in 2 teaspoons of hot water and add to the batter along with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
5. Stir in 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips.
6. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
7. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
8. Let cool on wire racks.
